I’ve realized that part of what makes Austin so special is that nature still exists here. Today I went swimming in the greenbelt, this huge protected wooded area smack in the middle of Austin. There are all sorts of trails that go through the greenbelt, which is like at least 5 sq miles, and there is a lovely creek that runs through it. Since it was such a hot Sunday, it was pretty crowded, but still refreshing. There are few cities where you can feel like such a part of nature while still being surrounded by the city.
